Or should I say not a Flannel Friday since I’m presenting my first ever folder story! And, let me tell ya, cutting a decent looking shape out of a folder was a bit trickier than I initially imagined. Still, I’m pretty happy with the final result.
This folder story is from Storytime Magic (I rely very heavily on this book, can you tell?). It’s about Cinderella’s rat, who finds himself hiding from the guards on that infamous night of the ball. With a little help from the fairy godmother, he’s able to change colors and camoflauge himself by saying:
I’m Cinderella’s rat, and my name is Nat, and I can change colors just like that!
Orange like the pumpkin carriage, green like the grass, gray like the castle walls, etc.
And, just in case I need a little help remembering the story, I went ahead and glued the whole thing onto the back of the folder…
I haven’t tried this one out on the kids yet. I have a fairy tales theme planned for the end of February, so I guess I’ll see how it goes then.

Kids love these file folder color-changing stories and rhymes. I’ve heard of “Scat the Cat,” but not “Cinderella’s Rat.” This would be fun for a fairy tales or print and princesses storytime. Thanks for sharing!

I love folder storytimes almost as much as my storytime friends do. Lol!
One trick to cutting a folder story is to use small, sharp scissors and make short, smooth cuts. My favorite pair of scissors are a small pair of Fiskars with orange handles that I bought at WalMart in the craft area. I love them so much I bought a second pair…
